Things Mary (And What You Might Have) Learned from Smeagol/Gollum

In Movies, Random/Humor on February 16, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Before we begin, I think it is appropriate to warn you that if you aren’t familiar with this most famous CG quasi-gremlin (played by Andy Serkis), you should probably find something else to read. You should also find a cliff, because if you don’t know the Lord of the Rings, you don’t know life. Read the rest of this entry »

If you’re like me (and I know I am), you’re a bit lazy and a bit cheap. Now, not so much as to really damage your relationships or social skills, but enough to be so far behind the proverbial Joneses that they refer to your lifestyle as “the Stone Age.” So what exactly am I getting at here? The name of my game is waiting for movies to come to video (it’s always good to save money!). The movie in question, one that has recently graced the shelves of video rental shops everywhere, is the adorably funny Paul. Read the rest of this entry »

“When Captain America throws his mighty shield, all those who oppose must yield.  If he’s led to do a fight and a duel is due, then the red, white, and, blue will come through. When Captain America throws his mighty shield.”

This old time theme song to the Captain definitely describes the spirit of the film. If you are looking for a different ride this summer, Captain America might be the thing for you. Read the rest of this entry »

‘ Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2’ Review

In Movies on July 20, 2011 at 12:59 pm

by: Mary Coan

Forget about the ‘apocalypse’ coming in December of 2012. The world will surely end now that we don’t have any more Harry Potter novels or movies to dream about. It’s the hottest must-see movie of the summer for a reason. You don’t even have to see the other seven movies; it’ll be like reading the last page of a novel first (perfect strategy, if you ask me). The eight movie run, which began ten years ago in 2001, has certainly bewitched audiences from the start. In arguably the most highly anticipated release of the summer, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 delivers. Read the rest of this entry »

Some might call it a love story. Some might brush it off as a movie about people who have no idea what they’re doing. Whatever you decide to call it, Beginners is a story about living; about growing up, facing changes, and learning how to be happy with who you are. Read the rest of this entry »
