Letter to Santa (Christmas Wish List)

In Random/Humor on December 23, 2011 at 12:26 pm

First off, my apologies for the gap in between articles.  Between finals, saying goodbyes to friends, Christmas shopping, and packing, there just wasn’t time to sit down an write something new.  Now that we’re all home, it’s time to start this back up. Read the rest of this entry »

Hey there everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that because of finals stressing out just about everyone, there will be limited posts on here, if any at all.  There’s too much to get done these next two weeks, and I don’t want you all to think that we’re being lazy around here.  School comes first.  If we do get anything submitted, we’ll try and put it up as quickly as possible, but don’t expect much.

Hopefully we can start putting stuff back up in the few days before Christmas and shortly after that.  Thanks for your (future) cooperation and understanding.

NFL vs. MLB vs. NBA (NFL’s case)

Allow me to explain.  I had three different writers make their best pitch as to why their favorite sport is the America’s best.  We choose the MLB, NFL, and NBA because those are arguably the three most popular ones (that, and they’re the only three that volunteered…).  Anyways, how this will work is I will release the NFL pitch right now, then the MLB one this afternoon, capped off by the NBA one this evening.

At the end of the NBA article, I will throw a poll on there encouraging you, the reader, to vote on which sport you think is the best.  Let’s waste no more time.  Here is Randy Dahl, making his case for the NFL. Read the rest of this entry »

The Power of the Food Network

In Television on December 5, 2011 at 1:34 pm

by:  Mary Coan

It started innocently. An hour here or there, maybe a few minutes before a quick dessert with Rachael (Ray) before I started my homework. Before I get any more mysterious or creepy, I’m going to admit that I’m talking about my burgeoning obsession with the Food Network. Beginning shortly after my parents finally caved and got satellite service when I was in middle school (if only you could have heard my brother and I shriek for joy when we got the news), I discovered this mystical channel called the Food Network. It had shiny new kitchens, unchipped dishes, and clean ovens. It wasn’t long before I fell in love. Read the rest of this entry »

NCAA Football Playoffs, Round of 32

In Sports on December 4, 2011 at 11:01 pm

After sitting around by my television, waiting for some spectacular computer-generated miracle this evening, I decided that I have had enough.  This BCS crap isn’t working, so I’m throwing out the “carefully calculated”  numbers.  With your help, we are about to complete the first ever college football playoff bracket.   Read the rest of this entry »
