“When Captain America throws his mighty shield, all those who oppose must yield.  If he’s led to do a fight and a duel is due, then the red, white, and, blue will come through. When Captain America throws his mighty shield.”

This old time theme song to the Captain definitely describes the spirit of the film. If you are looking for a different ride this summer, Captain America might be the thing for you.

The Movie Captain America: The First Avenger is very open and positive. Everything that should be in a Superhero origin tale is there.  But what really counts is what the movie means to the fans. In a matter of opinion if you know nothing about Marvel comics, Captain America or the Avengers you will be a lost soul among the viewers.  The movie will become nothing more than another Hollywood spectacle. For those who understand the significance of what has just begun you will be in for a treat. Whether or not you fall into those categories, the movie is still a thrill and has a bright future ahead of it.

The 125 minute film starts in a non-linear fashion starting with the end and working its way to revealing the true meaning.  Right away we are thrown into Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) struggle. The story is grounded in feelings we as humans have all felt at some point in our lives.  His dilemma is stated and then he becomes party to a life-changing event; the one that will give him the answer to all the problems. Over night Steve Rogers had become the iconic symbol of hope for America and her war efforts. After accepting the abilities gifted to him, his journey begins to fit into the title Captain America.  Though doing so is a struggle, he finds a true desire to become what everyone needs.  The rest of the film showcases his awesomeness and his efforts to win America’s war with a Nazi spinoff organization, led by the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).  The movie is filled with all the blood pumping action we all want and need, backed by an incredible rise to glory story. It is sure to wow audiences. Without giving away too much, the ending is quite the surprise, finishing with something fans or comic lovers will take to heart. We’re also introduced to some of Marvel Comics’ iconic group of heroes:

Chris Evans as Captain America, Hugo Weaving as The sinister Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as the beautiful Peggy Carter, Dominic Cooper as the sexy and slick Howard Stark, Tommy Lee Jones as the comedic Colonel Chester Phillips and, Sebastian Stan as the one and only Bucky Barnes.  This cast is outstanding, and each played his or her role to a tee with the utmost efficiency. They made this comic book world come to life. Everything in the movie worked towards making this a worthwhile experience, transporting you into the World War II era, with a heroic twist.

Captain America: The first Avenger satisfies as a summer blockbuster, but most importantly it amounts to everything a comic lover will take to heart; whether it be the insane fighting sequences or just the simple fact he can throw his shield. Comic lover or not, don’t waste anymore time pondering about whether you should see this movie. It is totally worthwhile.
